What is Authority Niche Blogging?

To define authority niche blogging, let’s quickly define each word.

Authority, according to Wikipedia, refers “to recognized expertise in an area of academic knowledge.” This means a blog which has expertise in a particular niche.

A niche is a group of people with similar interests. You can also call a niche market a focused, targetable section of a market. For example, football lovers – they are a targetable part of the sport lovers’ niche.

Blogging is the act of regularly posting fresh content on a blog. I call a blog an online journal that is frequently updated.

Now that we have clearly defined what authority niche blogging is, let me quickly say it is establishing and running a blog that is the clear leader in its’ field. A gardening blog is an authority niche blog if it is the most listened to in the market; if people who want to know about gardening flock to the site every day.

Features of an Authority Niche Blog

* High Traffic: For a blog to qualify as an authority in a particular niche, it should have the highest amount of traffic in that market. Most of the website visitors in that niche should be visiting such a blog.

* Attractive: An authority niche blog must be good-looking. It must be beautiful. It must have aesthetic appeal. It must be functional, encourage visitor interaction and load speedily.

* Unique Content: This is a huge MUST for authority blogs. There is no simple website or blog that has high traffic and income without high quality, creative and original content.

* Search Engine and Visitor Optimized: An authority blog or site must not just be optimized for the search engines; it must also be optimized for visitors. SEO (search engine optimization) and visitor optimization have to go hand-in-hand. One should not be sacrificed on the altar of the other.

* Resource Material: An authority site is often referred to by bloggers and others because it is a resource material in its’ filed. It contains a lot of good and useful information in its’ niche. This makes a lot of sites to voluntarily link to the site, leading to a higher traffic volume.

* Well Monetized: An authority blog will make the owner good money through a mixture of advertising, affiliate programs, and exclusive products and services. An authority site is one that does not leave money on the table. It takes advantage of most money-making opportunities to reach the peak of its earning potential.

* Updated Often: When I defined a blog, I called it an online journal that is frequently updated. An authority site cannot be so if it carries stale content. There must always be fresh and original content on an authority niche blog. I know of blogs that are updated by the minute, for example news blogs; while I know blogs that are updated daily. You have to choose a posting schedule and maintain it but please make sure you update your site often. Otherwise, it’s not an authority site.

* Self-Promoting: An authority niche blog is a self-promoting one. When fresh material is posted on an authority site, the web is notified through tweeting, tagging, bookmarking, pinging, and updated RSS feeds on associate blogs or sites. An authority blog self-promotes by getting other people to voluntarily do the promotion.
